Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is seeking a part-time Community Program Assistant to join our team!

What You’ll Do

As a Community Program Assistant, you’ll bring the Girl Scout experience directly to youth in local communities. You’ll lead engaging activities, assist families with registration, and work closely with the Membership Area Manager and community partners to create a positive experience for participating youth.

This is a year-round, part-time position, typically working 12–16 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on the time of year, availability of assignments, and program needs. Most assignments take place a few weekdays each week during after-school hours, (from 3:30-6:30 PM and/or depending on the school district’s schedule) with occasional weekend availability as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate families and community partners on the registration process and ensure all participating youth are properly registered.
  • Provide support to programs with low enrollment to boost participation.
  • Serve as the program leader by coordinating meetings and recruiting volunteers as needed.
  • Arrive early and be fully prepared to lead each meeting.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Membership Area Manager about meetings, activities, and any potential issues.

You should have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort working directly with youth, families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Confidence leading meetings, programs, and activities with participating youth.
  • The ability to work independently and arrive prepared for assigned programs and meetings.
  • Availability and reliability to work primarily during after school and early evening hours, (from 3:30-6:30 PM and/or depending on the school district’s schedule), as well as occasional weekends.
  • A flexible schedule, as weekly hours and assignments may vary throughout the year.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to assigned communities. Mileage will be reimbursed at the prevailing IRS Standard Mileage Rate for Business and is logged daily and processed electronically.
  • The ability to deliver Girl Scout programs in community settings (some examples are community centers, schools, places of worship).
  • The ability to maintain a professional appearance while representing Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital; at minimum, a Girl Scout T-shirt is required.

The starting wage for this position is $20.00/hour.
