What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Intern-- NYC (Remote) position at Girl Dinner Social?
π Must currently live in NYC β role is fully remote, but you're our eyes and ears on the ground π΅ Unpaid ποΈ Start: ASAP
About us
Girl Dinner Social is a women-only app helping women actually make friends, not just match with them. We started in Chicago, and NYC is next.
We don't have a presence there yet, and honestly, we don't fully know what's going to resonate with NYC women versus what worked in Chicago β that's where you come in. We're small, early, and moving fast.
What you'll be doing
- Figure out what NYC actually responds to β the humor, the references, the neighborhoods, the vibe β rather than assuming what worked in Chicago will translate
- Run our NYC-facing content: Instagram and TikTok posts, stories, reels
- Test ideas, see what lands, and use that to shape our approach as you go β you're not executing a fixed playbook, you're helping write it
- Comfortable with being on camera β our best-performing content is a real person talking, not polished graphics
- Turn what's happening in NYC's social scene into content that makes women want to be part of it
- Coordinate regularly with our Chicago social media intern so both cities feel like the same brand, even as the content itself is different
What success looks like
We're hoping to build real awareness and a following among NYC women over the next few months. We care just as much about whether people are saving, sharing, and DMing about what you post β that's usually what turns into someone downloading the app, and you'll have visibility into both.
Who you are
- You currently live in NYC β this is non-negotiable, since your read on the city is the whole point
- You're genuinely tapped into NYC's culture and social scene, not just familiar with it
- You've made videos for a personal or brand account and have something real to show for it
- You're comfortable in front of a camera and don't need a script to sound like yourself
- You like figuring things out β you're not looking for a fixed brief, you want to test and learn
- You're excited about building something that doesn't exist yet, not just running a channel that's already figured out
- You'll actually check in with our Chicago team instead of going fully heads-down on your own β this only works if NYC and Chicago still feel like one brand
- You can work independently β this is a remote role, so we're trusting you to move without daily check-ins
