What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Service/Circulation Clerk position at Girard Public Library?
Overview
Schedule: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week. (Position is for year-round employment)
Ideal candidates would be able to work a minimum of a 5 hour shift
Ideal candidates would be able to work a flexible schedule (some morning shifts & some afternoon/evening shifts )
Working past 7pm may be required on nights programs are offered at library.
MUST be able to work 1 or 2 Saturday shifts per month (9am-2:30pm)
Requirements Include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Creativity
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods to shelve books.
Responsibilities include but limited to:
- Customer service- Assist people of all ages with library services & technology
- Assisting with the circulation desk (checking books in/out, issuing library cards).
- Organizing and re-shelving library materials accurately.
- Using computer systems for basic tasks and assisting patrons with technology (computers, printers, etc.).
- Helping with Library Events/Programming
- Clerical duties
- Produce visually appealing materials for programs
- Provide & promote information regarding programs, events, meeting rooms, etc
- Ability to identify, prioritize & complete work needs
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members and work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals and objectives
- Seasonal book displays, bulletin boards, decorating library for holidays/seasons
- Interlibrary loans duties
- Processing & Cataloging materials
