We are looking for an Assistant Manager for our location in Milpitas. Giorgio’s is a high-volume family-owned Italian restaurant that prides itself on its history, high customer service standards, and team environment.
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the General Manager. The schedule varies and requires evenings and weekend availability. For the right candidate, we offer a good salary, health insurance, paid vacation, sick pay, and more!
This position supports the guest experience by overseeing all aspects of the public spaces, from customer service to facility management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that highest standards of customer service are achieved to create a hospitable guest experience. While reporting to the General Manager, it is expected that this person would take responsibility for setting the expectation for all front-of-house team members to work as a team to maximize our productivity. The Assistant Manager is the example of our standards at all times, whether it is cleanliness, organization, or guest satisfaction. They are also responsible for the speed and accuracy of the team. The Assistant Manager must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and demonstrate leadership to motivate others.
Essential Duties Include:
- Direct staff on courteous and efficient table service in assigned stations according to service standards and specifications.
- Respond to customer inquiries and ensure prompt resolutions as needed.
- Enforce company standards, policies, and procedures with staff.
- Create FOH schedules.
- Ensure lunch and break compliance.
- Ascertain staff training needs and assist in the education and direction of all staff according to restaurant service standards and specifications.
Prepare for Health and Safety Inspections by ensuring ongoing cleanliness, organization, and general maintenance of the restaurant and all areas open to customers according to restaurant standards.
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years management experience in the restaurant, hospitality, or similar field.
- Reliable transportation
- Current Food Handlers Certification or ability to complete or renew certification upon hire.
- Certificate in alcohol awareness program or ability to complete or renew certification upon hire.
- Able to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding in person and by telephone. Provide legible written communication.
- Basic computer skills; compute basic mathematical calculations.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive outlook and demeanor.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, making sound and logical decisions quickly.
- Be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems, exercising good judgment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision, team-oriented with a cooperative and collaborative approach to co-workers and vendors
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent, preferred
- Certification in C.P.R.
- Ability to communicate in a second language.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Availability to work a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Regularly required to lift no more than 25 pounds unassisted
Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting. * Frequently required to use hand-to-finger motions, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
