Ginger Cove is currently seeking a Full-Time Activities Assistant (Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM and every other weekend). The Activities Assistant is responsible for working in accordance with established policies and procedures and/or specific instructions from the Activities Manager/Coordinator. Assists the Manager/Coordinator by conducting many of the planned activities and performs related duties required by the Activities Department. Supports the philosophy and mission of the Activities Department to improve the residents’ quality of life through physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual activities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads or assists with planned activities as listed on the monthly calendar.
- Assists Activities Manager/Coordinator with the planning of new activities.
- Maintains and records daily attendance in Activities Logbook.
- Completes MDS as trained.
- Records daily participation for activities in the activity notebook and in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Assists in the sorting, filing, and distribution of mail.
- Assures all activity areas are neat, orderly, and clean.
- Maintains constant awareness of special diet restrictions of residents.
- Conducts one-on-one visits in specified rooms.
- Responsible for feeding the fish and ensuring the birds have fresh water and food.
- Notifies Activities Manager/Coordinator if supplies are low.
- Reports any problems or concerns from residents, family members, or staff.
- Encourages and brings residents to the activity areas and assists residents from the activity areas when necessary.
- Calls for nursing assistance when necessary.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions as required.
- Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behaviors set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of duties.
- Adheres to the Organization’s policies and procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting possible concerns.
- Follows all local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to the position.
- Adheres to the Organization’s policies and procedures regarding Privacy and Security in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Must be familiar with and complete training relating to Risk Management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- At least one years’ experience in providing therapeutic recreation services in a long-term care facility with the elderly preferred.
- Experience caring for residents with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia.
- Knowledge and experience working with senior communities in a long-term care facility.
- Computer literacy.
- Must have a valid form of federally-issued ID.
- Must present self in a professional manner.
- Must possess concern, responsiveness, and tact when dealing with colleagues, residents and their families.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with others to help colleagues to achieve respective goals for creating wellness opportunities and experiences for our residents.
- Must have completed or be willing to complete educational requirements imposed by State regulations within the specified time frame.
