The primary function of a Server Assistant is to assist servers, bartenders, and baristas in providing efficient and courteous service while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with team members to promptly and professionally run food and drinks, clear tables, and accommodate guests’ needs.
- Ensure all orders are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in all areas of the building including, but not limited to dining room, (including bars and coffee shop), patios, kitchen, server alley, guest restrooms, Teaching Kitchen, etc.
- Strive for an exceptional level of guest satisfaction by responding to each guest’s individual needs in a timely manner.
- Clear and reset tables, and otherwise assist with all aspects of guest service including service of water, coffee, and other beverages as needed.
- Promote a warm and friendly atmosphere among team members and guests.
- Provide the highest standards of service, consistent with the overall expectation of Ginger and Baker.
- Actively participate in communicating with coworkers and managers during your shift.
- Knowledge of menu items in order to answer questions and make recommendations.
- Comply with Ginger and Baker policies/procedures and Standards of Conduct as set forth in the Team Member Handbook.
- Is knowledgeable about the history of the building and surrounding area Share the history and offer a tour of Ginger and Baker when possible
- Maintain good personal hygiene and perform all sanitary requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
- The ability to apply the use of common sense and understanding in order to carry out instructions, in any form. The ability to work in close proximity with others comfortably, while multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced client driven environment.
- 1-year customer service in a high-volume, restaurant setting.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to take direction as well as give and receive feedback in a constructive, professional manner.
EQUIPMENT USED
POS: SpotOn, I-pad, service trays, ice machine, soda fountain, dishwasher, broom, mop, basic cleaning supplies.
SCHEDULE
This is not a Monday thru Friday job. It requires a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. There are always going to be days when you won’t be able to leave right at your scheduled time.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
- Protect the safety of self, team members and Ginger and Baker Guests at all times.
- Promptly report any incidents and/or potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor.
- Report/document safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor and appropriate department(s), following documented procedures.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as required.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.

The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
