Duties
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems on various heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, bulldozers, and other construction machinery
- Perform mechanical repairs such as welding, fabrication, and assembly of hydraulic components and related machinery parts
- Conduct electrical diagnostics on equipment systems to identify issues with electrical components and wiring
- Maintain detailed service records, schematics interpretation, and troubleshooting logs for all repairs performed
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and specialized diagnostic tools to execute repairs efficiently
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fluid checks, filter replacements, alignments, and system inspections to prevent future breakdowns
- Assist with heavy lifting and equipment installation tasks using heavy equipment operation skills when necessary
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose hydraulic and mechanical issues efficiently.
- Experience servicing hydraulic systems, including cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, and related components.
- Knowledge of mobile hydraulic equipment, such as loaders, trucks, agricultural, or construction machinery.
- Ability to inspect, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test hydraulic and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, technical manuals, and work orders.
- Commitment to safe work practices, proper tool use, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Prior experience as a hydraulic, mechanical, or equipment technician; vocational or technical training is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift heavy components, stand for extended periods, and perform hands-on work in a shop environment.
