We are seeking an energetic, technically minded Inside Technical Sales Engineer to support our growing customer base throughout North America. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and supporting outside sales while helping grow the business.
Position Summary
The Inside Technical Sales Engineer serves as the primary technical and commercial resource for customers, distributors, system integrators, and OEMs. This position combines application engineering, customer support, quotation development, and proactive sales activities to identify opportunities and convert them into business. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, a customer-first attitude, and a passion for industrial automation and robotics.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding products, applications, pricing, and availability
- Recommend appropriate Gimatic products based on customer application requirements
- Prepare accurate quotations and follow up to close opportunities
- Provide technical support via phone, email, in-person, and virtual meetings
- Develop product solutions for robotic end-of-arm tooling, pneumatic grippers, vacuum systems, sensors, and automation components
- Support outside sales engineers with application reviews, quotations, and project management
- Build and maintain relationships with distributors, OEMs, machine builders, system integrators, and end users
- Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams on special applications and custom products
- Maintain CRM records including opportunities, customer interactions, quotations, and forecasts
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within existing accounts
- Participate in product training, webinars, and trade shows as required
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, and automation technologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).
- 3 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, customer support, or industrial automation.
- Understanding of pneumatics, robotics, vacuum technology, machine automation, or industrial components.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and basic pneumatic schematics.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robotics and end-of-arm tooling.
- Knowledge of collaborative robots (cobots) and robotic automation.
- Experience supporting distributors and system integrators.
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Understanding of industrial networking and automation controls is a plus.
