Nursery Sales & Yard Operations Associate

Cal Herbold's Nursery and Affordable Decorative Rock is located in Hesperia, CA. We provide the High Desert with quality landscaping and gardening materials, including plants, decorative rock, and nursery supplies.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team who has the knowledge, drive, and customer service skills to help us continue to grow and serve our High Desert community.

We are currently filling a full-time position.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities (subject to change):

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with their landscaping and gardening needs.
• Assist customers with product selections, questions, pricing, and orders.
• Write accurate tickets for rock, plants, soil, and nursery supplies.
• Handle customer payments including cash and credit card transactions.
• Schedule customer deliveries and coordinate order information.
• Communicate with customers regarding orders, product availability, and delivery details.
• Develop sales skills and build relationships with customers.
• Assist customers with loading purchases, including rock and bulk landscape materials, into their vehicles.
• Safely operate a loader to load customer purchases when needed.
• Tractor/Loader experience is preferred to load customers, move material, and assist with yard operations.
• Check yard inventory and monitor material levels to ensure products are available.
• Maintain inventory of decorative rock and landscape materials and notify management when stock is getting low and needs to be reordered.
• Be willing to go outside to check yard materials, inspect inventory levels, and assist with yard operations as needed.
• Assist with ordering nursery supplies and office inventory when needed.
• General maintenance and organization of Nursery and Rock Yard.
• Watering and caring for perishable plant inventory.
• Knowledge of plants, chemicals, fertilizers, and general horticulture is preferred.
• Forklift experience is preferred to move inventory and organize materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Loading customers' purchases into their vehicles (must be able to minimally lift 50 lbs.).
• Other duties to be discussed at time of interview.

You will be working with customers on a daily basis. Customer service skills, communication, and a positive attitude are very important!

Prior work experience is highly desirable in related fields such as nursery, landscaping, retail, agriculture, construction materials, or customer service.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, willing to learn, and has an interest in horticulture and landscaping. Knowledge of California horticulture and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and assist them with their purchases is key.

Experience with plants, landscape materials, inventory, equipment operation, customer service, and safely loading customer purchases is highly desirable.

Bilingual in Spanish/English is ideal but not required.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $18.00- $21.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. With increases depending on performance.
