MISSION

Provide quality process engineering and supplier quality support to develop, implement, monitor and maintain efficient processes and workflow, resulting in operational excellence and continuous quality improvements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all Gilson Quality System requirements.
  • Assist with post-mortem review of product returns identified as new product failures upon install within assigned products – document findings and initiate corrective actions where appropriate per procedure.
  • Diagnose problems using established troubleshooting methods and equipment to determine necessary action to be taken in repair of customer equipment and production electronic assemblies.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and lead corrective action efforts, documenting results and implementing product and / or process improvements when internal or external quality KPI data indicates negative trends.
  • Train new quality technicians, assemblers and material handlers on operational excellence activities and quality system requirements. 
  • Assist with ECO processing, training, implementation, and document control.
  • Oversee maintenance of the non-conforming database of rejected material, with efficient and timely disposition of parts, and assist in the summarizing KPI data monthly.
  • Complete first piece approvals for changed or re-sourced parts.
  • Identify, document and mitigate risk in all applicable work areas.
  • Organize, lead, and complete the yearly gage calibration efforts for all devices in the Middleton ALH and MLH facilities. 
  • Organize, schedule, and lead the ISO internal process audits by department and follow up to completion any identified improvement actions needed.
  • Review and summarize all open corrective action documents (CAR’s) generated. Follow up with appropriate personnel from various departments to complete all open activities in a timely matter.
  • Assist in data gathering and maintenance for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or higher – (prior experience in an electronics, electromechanical or biomedical manufacturing type environment may substitute for education requirement).

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years assembly and testing experience in light industrial electromechanical manufacturing environment.

 

SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Knowledge of quality tools (8-D, Pareto, Gage R & R).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Methods.
  • Proficient with basic test instruments such as digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, and calipers.
  • Understanding of basic electronic circuitry.
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting techniques with actual applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Experience with mechanical or electromechanical assembly operations.
  •  Ability to interpret technical drawings and documents.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITY

  • Requires good vision, including color vision.
  • Ability to communicate verbally.
  •  Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to acquire new skills and to accommodate change in the workplace.
  • Use of potentially hazardous materials is possible.
  • Possible contact with equipment that has been contaminated by laboratory chemicals, human bodily fluids or other potentially hazardous substances.

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DESIRE

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or ASQ CQT (Certified Quality Technician).
  •  Experience with MRP/ERP systems in the area of production control.
  •  Prior history or interest with CSR initiatives.
