MISSION
Performs light electrical and mechanical assembly of scientific laboratory equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reads and follows written instruction on proper assembly of sub-assemblies and final product
- Uses wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and both mechanical and wiring samples as part of assembly instruction documentation
- Uses small hand tools to perform light mechanical assembly
- Operates electrical and pneumatic hand tools
- Verifies and documents conformance to specification of assemblies and final products
- Performs some minor testing of sub-assemblies per assembly procedure
- Confers with engineers and supervisory personnel to resolve assembly problems
- Uses soldering irons and small hand tools for making electrical connections
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- High school degree or equivalent
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 2 years of experience in electrical mechanical assembly
SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE
- Familiarity with identification of electronic components, wire, and hardware
- Ability to read and understand mechanical/electronic drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials
- Proficiency in electro-mechanical assembly, including wire stripping, crimping, soldering, plumbing, sheet metal, and machine part assembly
- Self-inspects work throughout the assembly process and escalates any issues or concerns
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Familiar with safety and ESD requirements
- Familiar with ISO 9001 procedures and work instructions
- Customer focused and meets all quality, quantity, and established manufacturing practices to satisfy customer requirements
- Previous experience working with small, precision, mechanical or optical assemblies.
- Proficient with basic computer operation. Prefer experience with Microsoft Office computer applications
PHYSICAL ABILITY
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Good manual dexterity for handling and assembling small parts
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
