Civil Engineer, PE

Gilson Engineering and Surveying has an immediate opening for an experienced Civil Engineer, PE, to fill a key role in our Draper, Utah office.

Job Description: Manage civil engineering projects with minimal oversight for large and small projects. The right person will work with multidisciplinary project teams serving municipal, residential, and land development clients. You will get a chance to work in all disciplines in civil engineering. You will take projects from cradle to grave; Including marketing, proposal writing, and budget management.

Essential Duties Include

• Manage project design teams, including but not limited to staffing, marketing, schedules, contract administration and budgets.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment.
• Ability to manage and design multiple projects at one time.
• Perform civil design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
• Work closely with CAD staff to provide clear and accurate construction documents.
• Draft sketches, contract documents, and specifications.
• Provide project management on smaller and large projects.
• Review project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
• Develop probable construction cost estimates for projects.
• Observe construction and coordinate with contractors.
• Conduct field inspections and condition assessments and prepare reports.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• 5 to10 years of relevant civil experience
• PE license required or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Proficient in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Software
• Excellent oral and organizational skills.
• Good proofreading and editing skills; effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  
  

Preference may be shown to candidates who have the following skills or experience:

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Previous team or project management experience
