Job Description – Human Resources Technician
Basic Functions: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Human Resources, or designee, will serve as technician for the department. Performs a wide variety of complex and highly responsible clerical duties in support of the day-to-day operations relating to specific programs within assigned operational unit, office or department. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision within a broad framework of policies and procedures. This job classification requires initiative, independent judgment and organizational/problem-solving skills. This job classification processes routine administrative details not requiring attention of his or her supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes routine administrative details not requiring the immediate attention of assigned administrator(s)
- Covers reception area as scheduled and assigned
- Performs varied and responsible secretarial duties to assist in the coordination and processing of routine administrative operations within assigned unit
- Prepares a wide variety of material such as letters, requisitions, forms and various reports
- Maintains personnel records, which include databases and manual filing systems with filing done on a daily basis.
- Acts as information source to District administration, school principals, governmental agencies, and others regarding departmental/unit policies, and requirements; receiving and interviewing callers and providing information where judgment knowledge, and interpretation of established procedures/policies is required
- Prepares and analyzes reports from data compiled and records kept as it relates to assigned program area(s) and submits reports to appropriate District or governmental office as required
- Establishes and maintains a variety of records, logs, and filing systems pertaining to assigned area(s) of responsibility
- Reviews, and verifies documents, records, and forms for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Prepares department mailings using US Mail, district delivery service and email
- Develops or assists in the development of forms, worksheets, and record keeping systems for the collection, dissemination, and maintenance of needed information for specialized programs and functions within assigned unit
- Processes employment verifications, including start and termination dates, pay history and probability of continued employment
- Maintains a district-wide database of volunteers. Coordinates fingerprinting process for volunteers. Coordinates all aspects of parent/guardian volunteer approval following all board and district policies.
- Maintain and processes records of address changes for employees of the district as a whole
- Maintain and coordinator all volunteer driving applications for the entire district as part of the volunteer approval process
- Receives, verifies and posts TB skin test results; monitors expiration dates and assists personnel with appropriate renewal procedures to maintain compliance with Education Code.
- Reconciliation and processing of Alternate Retirement System for all hourly employees in the district
- Maintain all aspects of mandated training for employees and volunteers
- Maintain and record all DMV pull notices for appropriate personnel district-wide
- Maintain and process records for Department of Transportation reporting and regulatory compliance for district Transportation staff.
- Performs related duties consistent with job description related to the Human Resources Department

- Ability to prioritize and coordinate work flow to meet timelines
- Skills to operate standard office equipment including use of computer applications to enhance essential job functions, communicate clearly and effectively, use English in both written and verbal form, use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to work accurately, with attention to detail and with minimum supervision
- Ability to learn, interpret and successfully apply District rules, procedures, and policies with good judgment while independently carrying out a variety of technical and routine administrative procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Will require a valid California’s Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in English/Spanish
