Position Overview:
Gilroy Chevrolet/Cadillac is seeking a professional, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our service team. The Service Advisor plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional ownership experience by serving as the primary liaison between our customers and service technicians. This position is responsible for understanding customer needs, recommending appropriate maintenance and repair services, and ensuring clear, timely communication throughout the service process.
The ideal candidate brings strong automotive knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering a high standard of customer satisfaction consistent with dealership expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and timely manner
Consult with customers to identify vehicle concerns and service needs
Prepare accurate repair orders with clear documentation of customer concerns
Recommend manufacturer-required maintenance and additional services based on vehicle condition and mileage
Provide detailed estimates for labor, parts, and repair timelines
Serve as the communication link between customers, technicians, and the parts department
Monitor vehicle progress throughout the repair process and provide status updates to customers
Explain recommended repairs and maintenance in a clear, professional manner
Review completed services and final invoices with customers at the time of delivery
Address customer questions and concerns promptly to ensure a positive service experience
Maintain thorough and accurate customer and vehicle service records
Support service department goals for customer retention, CSI, and revenue performance
Ensure compliance with dealership policies, OEM standards, and warranty procedures
Qualifications:
2 years of experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, preferably in a dealership environment
Strong understanding of automotive systems, maintenance schedules, and repair processes
Experience writing repair orders and preparing service estimates
Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple customers and repair orders efficiently
Proficiency with dealership management systems and basic computer applications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Chevrolet and Cadillac warranty procedures and dealership service operations
Familiarity with TEKION or similar DMS platforms
Strong track record of meeting CSI and sales performance goals
ASE certification or other automotive credentials is a plus
