What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer - Senior Programs position at Gilpin County?
Primary Responsibility: Volunteers can choose to volunteer in one or both of the senior programs; meals on wheels or the senior luncheon program. The volunteer is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Older Americans Act senior programs in Gilpin County. For Meals on Wheels volunteers, you are responsible for the delivery of meals to clients at home. For Senior Luncheon volunteers, you are responsible for helping with the luncheons by setting up, serving, clearing and cleaning up.

FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Salary Information: This is an unpaid volunteer position.
Main Job Duties for Meals on Wheels:
· Required time of service is 8 am – 12 pm, delivered Monday through Friday (volunteers often do one day a week)
· Pick up meals at the Gilpin County Justice Center.
· Adheres to all Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment guidelines, and all federal, state, regional, county and agency program policies and procedures.
· Delivers meals to designated clients in the County.
· Spend time with each client to check on them and have some conversation, being careful to listen to their concerns and notifying the Senior Services/Transportation Supervisor of any concerns.
Main Job Duties for Senior Luncheon Program:
· Required time of service is 10:30 am – 2:30 pm, luncheons are typically held 1-3 days a week and we can discuss your availability (volunteers often do one day a week)
· Sanitize tables and set up for senior luncheon
· Adheres to all Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment guidelines, and all federal, state, regional, county and agency program policies and procedures.
· Plate and serve lunches to seniors.
· Bussing tables, washing dishes using the sanitizing machine, and clean up the dining area.
· Help with counting the donations for the luncheon as needed

- Performs other appropriate duties as assigned and any duties needed to stabilize an emergency situation.
