About the job

The Junior Planner is responsible for partnering with account Planning/Buying, and internal Sales teammates, to translate seasonal visions into viable and profitable apparel assortment plans. As a member of the Planning team, each Planner is involved from concept to launch, and successful seasonal program completion.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is experienced at multitasking projects, assisting in planning-related tasks, and has an eagerness to learn and grow. This person must have strong analytical skills and be comfortable with challenging current processes/providing solutions to drive efficiencies. This person must also display a strong sense of ownership and be committed to their work.

As our Junior Planner, your responsibilities include:

· Collaborate with Sales Team/Account(s) to create planning models by category and channel that measure units, revenue, margin, sell-through and inventory turn.

· Recap and analyze actual sales results by product category to plan and forecast in-season business on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. This additionally includes analysis of selling trend by region, climate, size, store, etc.

· Manage and present in-season forecast and action plans (internally and externally) to mitigate risk and maximize near-term and long-term opportunities with each account. Drive dynamic scenario planning to demonstrate expected impact to inventory, average unit retail, and net margin dollars.

· Co-manage commercial calendar and promotional activities with Buyer.

· Develop program-level P&L plans for each program, in cooperation with Finance; to include any investments in marketing, promotions, fixtures, etc.

· In concert with other Planning teammates, drives weekly meetings to align cross-functionally on in-season/future-season strategy, along with any-reforecasts that impact financial plans.

· Partner with Analytics to provide seasonal data-driven insights to Design and Sales teams to influence product pricing, style, color, and graphic representation.

· Provide weekly/monthly replenishment recommendations to account planners based on program performance and expectations. In some cases, this involves directly managing replenishment volume and cadence via VMI (vendor managed inventory).

· Partner with Operations and Production teams to ensure product forecast aligns with buy plans and merchandise flow.

· Make recommendations for key financial meetings/decisions to maximize sales, margin, and inventory productivity.

· Attends seasonal sell-in appointments with Sales counterparts to support product vision with analytical insights and strategies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Ability/desire to work in-office. While we pride ourselves on flexibility, this is an office-based role.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, operations, or business preferred.

· 3 years of experience in retail merchandise planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, allocation, or replenishment; financial planning/analysis

• 2 years of experience in wholesale environment, preferably in Sam’s Club, Walmart, Costco, BJ’s.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strong aptitude with numbers; retail math skills, understanding of forecasting methodology.

• Makes decisions with limited information but is also able to synthesize large quantities of data to drive business decisions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to simplify complex information for digestion by various audiences.

· Initiative to look beyond the everyday business to look for opportunities to maximize sales potential.

• System proficiency with strong emphasis on Excel. ERP and Power BI experience a plus.
• Builds collaborative partnerships cross-functionally; identifies/influences critical stakeholders, applying a positive and “team first” mentality.
• Passion to succeed and work through all obstacles; never being a victim of circumstance.
• Strong time management skills and sense of urgency; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Flexibility to travel up to 10% for key account visits.
