Overview
We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems across various commercial and residential projects. Duties
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including CCTV, security alarms, sensors, fire alarm systems, and access control devices.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system design documents to ensure accurate installation and maintenance.
- Perform cabling and wiring tasks using hand tools and power tools in construction or retrofit environments.
- Conduct system testing and commissioning to verify proper operation of surveillance, alarm systems, and telecommunication networks.
- Provide remote access support for system diagnostics and troubleshooting via remote access software.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to assess system needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including schematics updates and system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with NEC standards and local electrical codes during all installations and repairs.
- Assist in sales activities related to alarm system upgrades or new security system installations when needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols while working with power tools, electrical components, and construction sites.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical systems including CCTV, sensors, fire alarms, security systems, and surveillance equipment.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and system design documents.
- Experience with computer networking, remote access software, telecommunication cabling, and system integration.
- Mechanical knowledge related to construction practices and the use of hand tools and power tools such as drills, wire strippers, screwdrivers, etc.
- Familiarity with NEC standards and local electrical codes relevant to low voltage installations.
- Service technician experience with troubleshooting complex electronic security or telecommunication systems.
- Knowledge of IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), alarm system sales processes, locksmithing basics, and power tools operation.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service environments across various locations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently on-site or remotely. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about security technology with a focus on high-quality installation and maintenance of low voltage systems in dynamic environments.
