Speech Language Pathologist

Gillette Children's is seeking a full-time outpatient speech language pathologist to join our rehabilitation team. The primary site for the position is our 305 East Nicollet Boulevard Burnsville, MN 55337 location and the candidate may be required to travel occasionally to other Gillette sites. The speech language pathologist position requires practicing in various settings including outpatient, telehealth, and occasional weekend rotation on the inpatient unit. Tuesday: 8:00am-6:30pm

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: 7:15am-5:45pm

Friday: 7:00am-5:30pm

Purpose Of Position

Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence and community integration. Contributes to department, program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.

It is anticipated that therapists will spend the majority of their work day in direct patient care. Therapists must have the ability to complete these activities and the related indirect patient care including same day documentation while providing safe patient care.

Compensation & Benefits Information

• The hourly wage for this opportunity is $34.77 to $52.13, with a median wage of $43.45/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities And Duties

Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.

• Designs assessment consistent with goals of evaluation, provider order, patient / family input and priorities.
• Obtains necessary history and background information.
• Selects evaluation methods, tools, and environment to obtain valid and reliable assessment specific to the patient’s age and developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, cognitive and behavioral status.
• Administers evaluation consistent with best practices and Gillette competencies.
• Interprets evaluation for to the patient / family and seeks their assessment of the evaluation’s reliability and validity.
• Makes recommendations for treatment, referrals, equipment, resources and home and community based activities.
• Documents and bills for evaluation based on education and guidelines provided by the Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare Rehabilitation Therapies Revenue Cycle Team.
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/REGISTRATION
• Speech Language Pathology State License
• Pending credentials: Registration and Licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status and completion of CFY for Speech Language Pathology.
• Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
  

Preferred

• ASHA Certification strongly preferred for Speech Therapists
• Pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Feeding clinic experience
• Experience with AAC devices, including programming.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to function as an effective team member
• Excellent customer service skills
• Competency in (occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech language pathology) evaluation, treatment and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services
