Respiratory Therapist 0.6 Evenings/Nights

We are hiring for a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Services team! This position is Evenings & Nights, 8-hour shifts during the week. Days on weekend, every 4th weekend (12-hour Nights, only Saturday and Sunday). This position is a mix of Nights and evening shifts. Preferred pediatric experience. PALS required within 3 months of hire.

Plans and delivers the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, education, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system as well as on the prevention of the development of these deficiencies.

Compensation & Benefits 

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $37.24/hour to $55.87/hour, with a median wage of $46.55/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities

Patient Care: Provides respiratory care to patients within a family focused setting.

• Conducts thorough respiratory system assessments.
• Contributes to a collaborative plan of care for patients receiving respiratory therapies.
• Successfully implements respiratory therapies.
• Evaluates and documents respiratory therapy outcomes.

Active Engagement: Active participation in the respiratory department and in the interdisciplinary work of the departments at Gillette.

• Represents the respiratory department on a committee or team.
• Attends inpatient and outpatient rounds as needed.
• Attends at least 75% of staff meetings.
• Presents education after hospital supported seminars and conferences to the department.

Competency in Technology Required of the Position: Demonstrates understanding of the tools and systems needed to accomplish work.

• Accurate and Efficient Work: Demonstrates accuracy, efficiency, and completeness in products and processes.  Performs tasks with appropriate urgency and accuracy while reducing waste through proactive time management.
• Procedures and Policies Follows established procedures and policies. Protects the confidentiality of personal health information.
• Ongoing revision of existing policies and development of policies to cover new practices.
• Abides by HIPPA standards for confidentiality and maintains good professional boundaries.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of Respiratory Care education program and certified through NBRC as CRT.
• Must be licensed with the state of MN.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If candidate holds valid CPR through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within 30 days from date of hire.
• Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within 90 days from date of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written, is imperative
• Ability to analyze problems and formulate solutions quickly
• Must be accurate, thorough in all therapy modalities and operation of equipment

Preferred

• Experienced preferred but willing to train candidate with good decision making and critical thinking skills
