Description

The Grounds Technician is a champion of top-notch customer service for our commercial tenants, as well as exceeding expectations for curb appeal for our properties, performed in a positive and professional manner. This position is the consistent “ownership eyes” for our assets and ensures 5-Star appearance of our properties.


Reports To: Commercial Property Manager (CPM)

Supervises: No direct reports. Works laterally with other employees to ensure necessary tasks are completed.

Compensation: Non-Exempt/Hourly


Gillespie Group requires a background and drug screen as a condition of employment and passing of required physical testing. A valid driving license, vehicle, and current automobile insurance are required. The position requires individuals to furnish their own vehicle (with mileage reimbursement) to fulfill all the job’s functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES & PROJECTS

  • WORK WITH THE HIGHEST STANDARDS FOR CURB APPEAL – “CLEAN and GREEN”
  • MAINTAIN 5-STAR SHOWING STANDARDS FOR VACANT SUITES & PROPERTIES
  • Clean up of curbs and sidewalks
  • Daily trash pick-up
  • Sweep or blow out parking lots
  • Pull weeds, deadhead, and water flowers
  • Maintain rain gardens and/or flowerpots
  • Landscape bed(s) clean up in both the spring and fall
  • Trim shrubs, as needed and directed
  • Lay mulch around the property (seasonally)
  • Report any areas where irrigation may not be working properly to CPM
  • Salting and snow removal touch-up after the vendor provides service
  • Dumpster corral repairs, clean-up of the area
  • Remove pet waste, as needed
  • Light checks on the property exterior, including tenant signs
  • Touch up painting as needed & directed – doors, signs, walls, etc.
  • Minor exterior repairs; downspouts are clear and working, splash guards are in place and in good shape, lower siding repairs, etc.
  • Report missing shingles, fascia, edging, etc., to CPM
  • Enter Work Orders for repairs needed outside of the scope of the Grounds Technician's abilities
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, general education degree, or related Vocational Training and/or equivalent work experience
  • Basic knowledge of grounds/landscape and maintenance preferred
  • Ability to receive and follow detailed instructions, and ensure that detailed instructions are followed
  • Ability to display effective communication, customer service, and organizational skills

Minimum Physical Expectations:

  • Physical activity that requires the ability to exert 25 to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 lbs consistently
  • Physical activity that on occasion requires lifting or moving 100 lbs or more
  • Physical activity that requires the ability to frequently operate standard tools
  • Physical activity that sometimes requires travel by car
  • Physical activity that requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Physical activity that requires the ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face-to-face (in English) for periods of time.

Minimum Environmental Expectations:

  • This position will require working indoors as well as outdoors
  • This is an In-Person role and will report to the property for work
