Structural Engineer (PE) – Precast Concrete
Gillespie Precast is seeking a Structural Engineer (PE) – Precast Concrete to join our team in Chestertown, Maryland. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of precast concrete structures for infrastructure projects, combining structural engineering, design analysis, and technical support for estimating and production.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze reinforced and precast concrete structures
- Prepare and (if licensed) stamp engineering calculations and submittals
- Coordinate shop drawings and production documents
- Support pre-bid design and estimating efforts
- Collaborate with sales, production, and project teams
- Optimize designs for efficiency and manufacturability
- Review work from external engineering consultants
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
- Apply ACI, PCI, and ASTM standards
Additional Responsibilities
- Support product development and innovation
- Assist with custom formwork design
- Participate in technical presentations
- Contribute to quality control troubleshooting
- Mentor EITs and junior engineers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) candidates actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply
- Ability to obtain Maryland PE licensure through reciprocity, if applicable
- Experience with reinforced concrete design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in both office and plant environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Active PE licenses in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, or Washington, D.C.
- Experience with precast concrete design
- Knowledge of ACI, PCI, and ASTM standards
- Experience with MathCAD, Eriksson, BoxCar, or similar engineering software
- Structural steel design experience
- Infrastructure, transportation, or DOT project experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $100,000–$130,000 annually, based on experience and licensure
