Position Summary
Associate Attorneys provide representation, counseling, pre-litigation, and/or litigation-related services for clients in administrative and civil actions including claims or actions relating to Title VII employment discrimination; worker's compensation; the ADA (reasonable accommodation); federal and state disability retirement requests and appeals; FLSA; IDEA; contract-based actions such as non-compete clauses, demand letters, and exit packages; OIG investigations of wrongdoing or misconduct; OSC investigations of Prohibited Personnel Practices, Whistleblower disclosures, Hatch Act, and USERRA claims.

Essential Duties And Functions
- Provide zealous advocacy to clients of GEL
- Maintain contemporaneous billing records that identify the client to be billed and that accurately reflect your time in 6-minute increments.
- Accurately and with sufficient detail to meet the requirements of a request for fees, describe the work you performed and the reason therefore.
- Promptly inform a Partner of any complaints or allegations by clients, opposing counsel, or judicial staff that may give rise to a bar complaint
- Supervise paralegals and law clerks commensurate with the Rules of Professional Responsibility
- 0-5 years of experience in the practice of law
- Admission to and in good standing membership to a bar - As a Law Firm operating in Maryland, we require Associate Attorneys headquartered in the Silver Spring office to be barred in the state of Maryland. As Maryland has adopted the UBE, admission through that process, if applicable, would be acceptable within approximately 1 year of starting employment.
- Understanding of and compliance with the Maryland Rules of Professional Responsibility, and any other applicable Rules of Professional Responsibility for states the Attorney is barred in
- Superior writing and advocacy skills
- Demonstrated commitment to civil rights and the rights of employees
- Strong writing skills;
- Detail-oriented
- JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school;
- Experience advocating verbally and in writing on behalf of clients;
- Experience interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and judges;

Salary : $85,522 - $109,119
