The Code Inspector I reports to the Inspections Supervisor. The primary functions of this position include:
- Conducting inspections of structures and materials to identify and resolve code violations
- Preparing detailed reports and documenting violations with photos and evidence for possible use in legal proceedings
- Receiving, recording, and investigating complaints from the public, staff, and outside agencies
- Researching ownership records, prior complaints, and applicable codes and regulations
- Providing information and technical assistance on inspection activities, code requirements, and courtroom testimony

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 2-3 years of related work experience, preferably in an enforcement field (investigative report writing and documentation, issuing citations, preparing courtroom documents)
- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- Must possess or obtain an Arizona Code Enforcement Assocation (ACEA) Level I Code Academy certification withing 18 months of hire.
