Hot Foods Lead

Summary:

The Food Captain at Gila Gas and Goods is an essential team member who helps keep our kitchen and store running smoothly while ensuring every guest enjoys fresh, high-quality food. This role combines leadership, organization, and hands-on support to maintain a clean, welcoming environment. In addition to kitchen duties, the Food Captain assists with C-Store operations as needed.

Responsibilities:

Food SafetyQuality:

• Champion safe and proper food handling to maintain high standards.
• Maintain accurate food-safety logs and ensure records are up to date.
• Ensure all products are fresh, properly stored, and ready for service.
• Support consistent quality in food preparation to deliver a great guest experience.

Kitchen OperationsReadiness:

• Help keep the kitchen organized and running efficiently during every shift.
• Assist the team in preparing and serving food quickly and accurately.
• Keep food fresh, stocked, and ready for customers throughout the day.

CleaningOrganization:

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and prep area.
• Support daily cleaning routines and help keep equipment and workspaces sanitary.

Team LeadershipSupport:

• Serve as a resource and guide for fellow team members in the kitchen.
• Foster a positive, collaborative environment where everyone can succeed.

C-Store Support:

• Assist with general C-Store operations as needed, including stocking, organizing, and helping customers.
• Support team members to ensure smooth daily operations of the store alongside kitchen duties.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an retail environment.

• Work will be performed inside on a regular basis.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.
• Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
• Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
• A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
• Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
• Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
