Gigi’s is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of over 6,300 homeless dogs annually from rural, under-resourced communities. With a unique campus and innovative programs, Gigi’s provides essential care, including free vaccines, full veterinary care, dental procedures, behavioral support, transportation, and housing to prepare dogs for adoption. The organization also actively supports rural shelters by driving over 35,000 miles a year, performing 1,200 surgeries, and donating more than 5,500 vaccines. Gigi’s has also collaborated with rural communities to rebuild and renovate shelters as part of its mission to help homeless dogs find permanent homes.
This is a full-time, on-site Associate Veterinarian role located at our Canal Winchester, OH campus. The Associate Veterinarian will provide a wide range of medical care, including performing surgeries, administering vaccines, and conducting wellness exams. Responsibilities also include ensuring thorough medical documentation, maintaining clinic protocols, collaborating with veterinary technicians, and providing guidance to enhance the well-being and behavior of homeless dogs. The veterinarian will play an integral role in Gigi’s efforts to rehabilitate and prepare dogs for adoption into forever homes.
- Veterinary medical skills, including experience in performing surgeries, diagnosing medical conditions, and administering vaccines.
- Strong knowledge in animal behavior, with the ability to assess and provide behavioral support.
- Clear and precise written and verbal communication skills for medical documentation and team collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a compassionate team dedicated to animal welfare and canine rehabilitation.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent, and an active veterinary license in the state of Ohio.
- Experience with shelter medicine or non-profit organizations is highly desirable.
