GiGi’s Playhouse, a leading national nonprofit providing free educational and therapeutic programs for individuals with Down syndrome, is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our Charleston, SC location. Position Overview
The Executive Director is responsible for overall leadership, fundraising strategy, community engagement, and operational excellence. This role ensures sustainable growth, strong volunteer and staff management, and high-quality program delivery. The position is approximately 50% fundraising/outreach and 50% operations/marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development
- Lead donor cultivation, grant writing, sponsorship acquisition, and fundraising campaigns.
- Manage annual budget and financial sustainability.
- Support and grow major fundraising events.
Nonprofit Leadership & Operations
- Hire, train, and manage staff; support volunteers (programs are 99% volunteer-run).
- Oversee daily operations and ensure adherence to GiGi’s national standards.
- Partner with the Board on strategic planning and organizational growth.
Community Outreach & Marketing
- Promote GiGi’s Playhouse through events, storytelling, media engagement, and partnerships.
- Strengthen visibility through social media, newsletters, and local outreach.
- Build relationships with schools, businesses, donors, and community groups.
Program & Family Engagement
- Ensure high-quality, mission-aligned program delivery.
- Build strong relationships with families and lead a Family Committee to support community involvement.

Salary Range: $80,000–$100,000 per year, based on experience.
