What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Technician position at Gigaisland LLC?
Location: Remote / Flexible Hybrid Environment (Honolulu, HI area for on-site client visits)
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports To: Owner and Technical Lead
Candidates must currently live on Oahu to be considered.
- First Responder Support: Act as the primary point of contact for client support requests arriving via phone, email, and text.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support:
- Ticket & System Management
- Daily Infrastructure Monitoring
- Project Assistance
- Operating Systems: Experience supporting modern Windows Desktop (10/11) & Server environments, as well as Apple macOS.
- Cloud & Business Productivity: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments.
- Hardware & Peripherals: Experience setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining PC and Mac hardware, server equipment, printers, switches, routers, firewalls, NAS devices, and mobile devices (iOS and Android).
- Core Tools: Understanding of remote support tools, antivirus/security tools, ticketing systems, and basic networking & Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
- AI & Prompt Engineering: Practical experience utilizing AI tools and advanced prompting techniques, with a strong emphasis on leveraging different Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate and resolve complex technical issues
- Certifications: CompTIA A , Network , or Server certification is highly preferred, but not required.

- Physical & Weight Requirements: Candidates must be physically capable of performing standard IT field duties. This includes the ability to lift, move, unbox, and rack enterprise IT equipment (such as servers, battery backups, and networking gear) weighing up to 50 lbs. The role also requires the ability to bend, kneel, and work under desks or inside server closets when running cables or deploying hardware.
- Modern Workflows: We lean heavily into strong documentation, modern workflows, AI-assisted troubleshooting, and collaborative processes to give you the best tools to succeed.
- Professional Presentation: Casual dress is perfectly fine when working remotely. A company-provided collared uniform shirt with the Gigaisland logo must be worn during site visits, client meetings, or public-facing events.
- Schedule: Primarily standard daytime business hours, though flexibility is required for occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate critical emergencies or client downtime windows
