Role Overview
As a Field Application Engineer (FAE) focused on Microcontrollers (MCUs) for the Western United States (preferred location Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver area), you will be the technical expert supporting customers and partners in evaluating, designing, and deploying GigaDevice’s MCU portfolio. You will work closely with the regional sales team and manufacturer’s reps to win new sockets and drive design-in to design-win conversion across automotive, industrial, consumer, and IoT applications.
This role is primarily focused on MCUs — ensuring that customers adopt and successfully implement GigaDevice microcontrollers in their designs, while also providing field feedback to influence future product roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical interface for MCU products in the Western U.S. region.
- Support customers in evaluating, designing, and debugging MCU-based solutions.
- Provide pre- and post-sales technical support, including design reviews, code optimization, and integration support.
- Deliver MCU technical training to customers, reps, and distributors.
- Collaborate with sales managers to identify and capture new MCU design-in opportunities.
- Drive design-in to design-win conversion; ensure timely closure of opportunities.
- Develop application notes, reference code, and training collateral specific to MCUs.
- Gather competitive insights on MCU offerings and help refine product positioning.
- Provide structured feedback to product marketing and engineering on customer needs and feature gaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5 years of direct experience with microcontrollers, preferably Arm Cortex-M based; familiarity with RISC-V ISA is a plus.
- Strong embedded programming skills in C/C .
- Knowledge of RTOSes (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, etc.)
- Experience with MCU IDEs and toolchains (Keil, IAR, GCC, etc.).
- Ability to read electronic schematics and use standard lab measurement/debugging equipment.
- Familiarity with common MCU applications in industrial control, consumer devices, connectivity, and motor control.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to explain technical concepts to engineers and customers.
- Willingness to travel across the Western U.S. to support customers.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
