Responsibilities
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert care to cancer patients across various healthcare settings in Tennessee. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work in diverse clinical environments, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and specialized cancer centers, delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care. The ideal candidate will possess extensive oncology experience, strong clinical skills, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through comprehensive treatment support and education. As a Travel Oncology RN, you will be instrumental in managing complex patient needs while enjoying the flexibility of travel assignments.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a RN
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology Medical Surgical nursing; 3 years preferred.
- At least one completed previous travel assignment.
- Active RN license in the state of Tennessee or a valid compact license.
- Certification in ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy.
- Experience handling patient ratios of 5 patients during day shifts and 6 patients during night shifts.
- Knowledge or experience in Trauma Level I is preferred.
- Cerner experience is preferred.
- Compliant with NLC guidelines for licensure.
- Vaccination status to be included in submission (flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent exposure to Oncology Med Surg experience.
- Experience working in a large hospital or Level I Trauma Center.
- Previous experience with interdisciplinary support teams.
- Ability to adapt to hospital's charting system (Cerner preferred).
- Ability to meet the unit’s specific requirements such as team nursing, patient census, and special procedures or equipment as applicable.
- Experience working in short-term acute care settings.
- Ability to meet the strict 100-mile radius rule for non-local travelers.
- Prior experience with RTO (Request for Time Off) planning, submitted at the time of application.
- Knowledge or participation in hospital-specific protocols and procedures, including handling patient diagnoses and special procedures, if applicable.
- Strong understanding of patient care within a high-acuity and trauma environment.
- Willingness to adhere to hospital policies regarding no call-in and limited floating, specifically between like units and within a 20-mile radius between campuses.
