Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Child Care Assistant to join Gifted Academy LLC, a Family Child Care Home in Salida, CO. In this role, you will support the development and well-being of young children across various age groups, from infants to preschoolers (0-6 years old). Unlike large daycare centers, you will work with a very small, intimate group of children in a warm, comfortable, and home-like environment. Our curriculum emphasizes social-emotional learning (SEL) and emotional intelligence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience in early childhood education.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily activities that promote childhood development, including play, learning, and social interaction.
- Provide attentive care to children’s needs, including feeding, diapering, and comforting as required.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for children.
- Engage children in age-appropriate educational activities that stimulate curiosity and learning.
- Monitor children’s behavior and assist in behavior management strategies to encourage positive social skills.
- Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures, including first aid when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent caregiving practices and effective communication with parents or guardians.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to pass a standard background check and fingerprinting as required by Colorado child care licensing.
- Experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, nannying, babysitting, or classroom settings.
- Ability to perform first aid and CPR; relevant certifications are a plus (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and engaging with children and families.
