The PM Production Lead will assist with overseeing daily production activities, particularly when Production Supervisor is away from the production room floor. The PM Production Lead will assist with the direction and coordination of all production employee activities, educate and inform on food safety as well as employee safety concerns, as well as maintaining a positive work environment and effective communication.

Lead Responsibilities:

Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by

  • Communicating job expectations to immediate production crew
  • Planning, monitoring and appraising job results to expectations, and in a timely manner, also reporting any issues to direct supervisor
  • Communicating with supervisor on employee disciplinary issues
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Being a good listener, listening to understand
  • Monitors manpower to ensure efficiency of operations
  • Responds to immediate emergencies and reports them to management

Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process, including:

  • Setting processing variables
  • Observing control points and equipment
  • Monitoring personnel and resources
  • Studying methods
  • Facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.

Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning

Maintains general maintenance practices (GMP)/Housekeeping at a high level within department through the involvement of all team members.

Production:

  • Build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Helps monitor mix storage tanks, verifying temps and ensuring refrigeration is on.
  • Make sure all samples are taken for the lab.
  • Make sure all production sheets are filled out daily.
  • Help with quarterly ingredients and container inventories. Will be responsible to make sure counts are accurate.
  • Rotating of all ingredients and containers for ice cream production.
  • Monitoring all codes and labeling of containers; changing codes when needed.
  • Make sure Lot Numbers are recorded on proper work sheets and accurately
  • Ensure Pre-op and Post-op duties are completed and documented.

Other:

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Stay in constant communication with the Operations Manager on ideas, issues, etc.
  • Ensure all aspects of production are covered.
  • Perform all jobs/tasks assigned by supervisor/manager

Experience/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Lift up to 50lbs., including lifting up to 35lbs. overhead
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time on hard surfaces
  • Frequently bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl
  • Wear required PPE, including hair nets, beard nets (when applicable), nitrile gloves, and hearing protection
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude
  • Lead by example
  • Adaptable to change
  • Be organized, quality focused and detail oriented

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Regular exposure to food allergens, cleaning chemicals, and occasional biohazards
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Hearing protection is required
  • Non-slip footwear is required
