Job Summary
Gielow Pickles is seeking dependable, safety-focused Forklift Operators to join our team. This position supports multiple departments throughout our facilities, including production, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory management. Forklift Operators play a critical role in safely transporting materials, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring products are moved efficiently while following company procedures and food safety standards.
Duties
- Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Transport raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and supplies throughout the facility.
- Accurately scan, move, and record inventory transactions using the company's ERP system and handheld scanners.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices to ensure proper product rotation.
- Verify product identification, lot numbers, quantities, and locations before moving materials.
- Load and unload trailers, trucks, and production lines as assigned.
- Supply production lines with materials while removing finished goods and waste as needed.
- Maintain organized warehouse and storage areas.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment concerns immediately.
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
- Follow all food safety, GMP, quality, and sanitation requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet production and shipping goals.
- Assist in other warehouse or production-related duties as assigned.
Skills
- Previous forklift operating experience preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred (training and certification may be provided).
- Experience working with ERP or warehouse management systems is preferred.
- Basic computer and handheld scanner skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and warehouse environments.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment for extended periods.
