POSITION TITLE: Summer School Teacher & Coordinator
Location: Campus Assigned*
Pay:
- GIS & GMS: $950 stipend in addition to Summer School teacher pay
- GHS: $1,200 stipend in addition to Summer School teacher pay
Summer School Dates:
- Grades K-8, M-TH, May 28 - June 21, 2026
- Grades 9-12, M-TH, May 28 - June 25, 2026
Pay:
- $38 Per Hour - Teacher Pay, plus
- GIS & GES - Additional $950 Stipend
- GHS - Additional $1,200 Stipend

Reports to: Campus Principal
Description: Giddings ISD is seeking internal candidates to serve as campus coordinators for summer school. This is an excellent opportunity for Giddings ISD professional staff who are looking for opportunities to gain leadership or administrative experience.
In addition to being a Summer School Teacher, the coordinators will work with the principals to plan summer school, recruit and select staff, communicate with parents, and work with campus administrators to coordinate day-to-day management, organization, and operations of summer school for the campus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three years teaching experience.
- Collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Technology skills and the willingness to expand such skills.
- Strong organization skills.
- Knowledge of instructional best practices.
Areas of Accountability:
- Provide leadership, organization, and direction to the campus summer school program.
- Maintain records of the campus implementing HB 1416 tutoring during summer school.
- Provide supervision of students during summer school breakfast and lunch.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with principals and teachers to direct, coordinate, and facilitate the summer school program.
- Develop instructional goals for the summer school program.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of the summer school program and make improvements as needed.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor summer school students.
- Monitor and maintain records of summer school attendance.
- Identify, enlist, and monitor teachers (including substitute teachers) for summer school.
- Develop and implement a summer school discipline management plan for students.
- Coordinate with the transportation department for the transportation of students (including implementation of bus discipline).
- Other duties related to HB 1416 and summer school, as assigned.
This stipend is in addition to the regular salary. The start dates and end dates for the supplemental duty are different from the start and end dates under the regular employment contract with the district. The stipend includes payment for all duties, responsibilities, and additional time this supplemental duty may require. A stipend associated with a particular supplemental duty may be prorated if the supplemental duty is not completed or if the supplemental duty is terminated for any reason.
The supplemental duty is at-will and is/are not part of the employment contract with the district. There is no property right to the continuation of the supplemental duty. The district may reassign or terminate one or more supplemental duties at any time.
