HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS: Full time. Monday – Friday, 11 pm – 7 am.
GENERAL SUMMARY
GAHHS security guards are tasked with ensuring the safety for patients, visitors, and employees while on the GAHHS campus. Security Guards are also responsible for carrying out loss prevention tactics as well as proactive approaches of ensuring a campus free of criminal incidents.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical Physical Demands
Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity with eye/hand coordination. Frequent walking, bending, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time. Job requires lifting.

1. Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:
• Floor to waist - 50 pounds
• 14” to waist - 60 pounds
• Waist to shoulder - 35 pounds
• Shoulder to overhead - 20 pounds
• Carry 50 pounds for 30 feet
• Push 40 pounds/force for 30 feet
• Pull 40 pounds/force for 30 feet
Fully mobility on steps, ladders, and at heights. Visual and hearing acuity within normal range with/without corrective devices.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. High School diploma or equivalency
2. Eighteen years of age or older
3. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license
4. Must have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (F.O.I.D.) or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date. – Illinois Concealed Carry Permit is preferred.
5. Must have a valid Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC Card) or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date.
6. Must be able to successfully complete/pass the assigned Taser, Handcuffing, & O.C. training within 6 months of hire and complete refresher training annually.
7. Must obtain training certificate for M.A.C.H. Control Tactics within 6 months of hire date.
8. Must obtain IAHHS Basic Certificate within 12 months of hire. (Persons with an Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board certificate are exempt.)
9. Must attend or complete mental health/behavioral health training within 6 months of hire. Employee must complete refresher training annually either through on-line or in-person means.
10. Must obtain CPR/AED training within 6 months of hire.
11. Must be capable of keeping all necessary certification and training up to date.
INFECTION EXPOSURE RISK LEVEL
Category II – this job involves tasks that routinely do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but exposure or potential exposure may occur in emergency situations. It is recommended that you receive the Hepatitis B Vaccine.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
2. Exposure to offensive odors.
3. Exposure to somewhat disagreeable conditions such as dust/dirt, loud noises, cramped work spaces, and tasks where caution must be exercised to insure safety.
4. Reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood, blood borne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.
Hours of Work
1. Security Guards may work weekends, holidays, other shifts, and overtime as required by the department. GAHHS reserves the right to change the work schedule of an employee when it is in the best interest of the organization. All overtime to be approved by the Director of Facility Security
