With a rail spur available, large quantities of raw materials can be efficiently transported in, and finished goods can be shipped across the continental United States. Are you an organized problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment? Join Gibraltar as a Freight/Logistics Coordinator, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring our supply chain runs smoothly across truck, rail, and intermodal transportation modes.
You’ll work directly with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams - including sales, operations, and management to coordinate shipments, resolve challenges, and keep freight moving efficiently and on schedule.

What You’ll Do
Shipment Coordination
- Arrange and monitor shipments across truckload, LTL, intermodal, and rail.
- Secure freight carriers, schedule pickups, and track shipments through delivery.
- Act as a liaison between customers, warehouses, and carriers to ensure seamless communication.
- Provide proactive shipment updates and resolve any in-transit issues.
Logistics & Communication
- Collaborate with suppliers and carriers to ensure on-time and compliant deliveries.
- Support coordination with rail and intermodal partners as part of Gibraltar’s broader transportation network.
- Work with internal departments to align shipping schedules with production and delivery goals.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs forms, and invoices.
- Verify all shipments meet company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain clear records for reporting, audit, and operational purposes.
Problem-Solving & Optimization
- Troubleshoot issues such as shipping delays, documentation errors, or freight damage.
- Analyze logistics performance to identify process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support freight rate evaluations and assist with vendor negotiations as needed.
What You Bring
Must-Have Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or a related supply chain role.
- Knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes, including LTL, FTL, rail (short and long line), and intermodal.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Sage or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and carriers.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with rail coordination or Class I carrier systems.
- Familiarity with customs or export documentation.
- Experience with freight rate negotiation or logistics reporting tools.
- Continuous improvement mindset for optimizing logistics processes.
Education & Experience
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years in logistics or supply chain coordination, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
