WHAT YOU’LL DO
As our Occupational Health Nurse, you’ll deliver high-quality nursing care while promoting a culture of safety, wellness, and prevention.
Clinical Care & Emergency Response
- Assess and treat work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses on site
- Take vital signs, treat wounds, and evaluate physical conditions
- Respond to medical emergencies using sound nursing judgment; coordinate EMS when needed
- Coordinate care with physicians, clinics, and hospitals as appropriate
- Coordinate and monitor pre-employment, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty exams
- Administer and manage audiometric, pulmonary function, drug & alcohol, hypertension, and DOT programs
- Conduct hearing tests and maintain required certifications and documentation
- Collect urine and/or oral fluid drug screens following strict chain-of-custody procedures
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs, workers’ compensation claims, and restricted/lost workday tracking
- Educate team members on health topics such as injury prevention, wellness programs, and lifestyle management
- Explain FMLA, disability, and medical leave programs; complete related documentation
- Maintain confidential medical, disability, and workers’ compensation records
- Schedule appointments and manage medical documentation
- Maintain a clean, organized medical workspace
- Manage medical supply inventory and biohazard waste processes
- Participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies
Education & Licensure
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required or ability to obtain:
- Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC/COHT)
- DOT Drug & Alcohol Specimen Collector
- Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)
- Fit Test Certification
- DOT Physicals tracking knowledge
- T-SPOT.TB testing (preferred)
- 3 years of nursing experience; occupational or industrial health experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and occupational health software
- Highly organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Consistent 2nd shift schedule
