Position Summary:
The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for fostering a progressive learning culture and driving Giant Food's Leadership Journey, which is designed to strengthen the culture, builds organizational capacity, connect associates to purpose, drive change and innovation and deliver sustainable business results.Reporting to the Director, this energetic and experienced leader will develop the learning & leadership strategy and serve as the Company's subject matter expert working in partnership withthe Learning Development (L&D) and Communications Teams, functional area leads, Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) and other subject matter experts. They will proactively identify learning gaps, present the most effective learning approaches and modalities, source, and/or design and develop training and learning that align with Giant's business priorities.
This position requires a high degree of creativity and analytical ability to propose the appropriate learning for associates at different levels, and source and develop engaging learning solutions. Responsibilities include program and content development with some facilitation, as well the ability to initiate and manage the lifecycle of projects, partnering with Learning staff and administrative support.

- Creates a strategy and roadmap for Giant's learning and leadership development initiatives to measurably advance organizational competency for leadership, growth, and change at multiple professional levels
- Partners with subject matter experts and HR Business Partners to identify training needs, write clear training objectives, identify stakeholders who need to be involved; fully manage training development through design, implementation, and evaluation with all types and sizes learning programs
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure ongoing communication and understanding of business and associate learning needs. Translate departmental objectives and role responsibilities into training that will prepare employees for the next step of their career path
- Partners with internal teams to promote learning programs and ensure accessibility and relevance to business needs
- Coordinates and leads the design, development, roll-out, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of a variety of learning and development initiatives
- Manages all learning programs and initiatives, including the development and execution of customized learning modalities including instructor-led in-person or virtual classes, computer-based training, self-paced programs, eLearning, micro-learning, on-demand, video, blended learning, job aids, etc. Develops appropriate platform guidance for trainers, hosts trainings of trainers as needed
- As needed, develops interactive e-learning through use of authoring programs, such as Articulate Storyline
- Facilitates learning/training sessions and engages learners through virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Zoom, Adobe Connect; and SuccessFactors
- Collaborates with functional teams or departments, stakeholders and subject matter experts to define learning needs, leverage internal and external learning resources and partnerships
- Identifies external learning and training resources; articulates internal learning needs; oversees proposals and vendor engagement
- Manages annual budgets and learning program guidance
- Leads a team of L&D professionals, providing support, guidance, vision, and development opportunities
- Provides systems support by managing aspects of Learning Management Systems (LMS) use, including evaluations, reporting, and research
- Develops metrics to assess the consistency and quality of the design, deployment, branding, and business impact of the learning; designs, manages, and deploys end of class surveys, and analyzes and reports on survey data
- Ensures the logistical and tracking aspects of training coordination are well executed.
- Stays current with industry trends in employee training programs that encompass integrating new modalities, including virtual and digital training solutions
- Minimum of 7-9 years of relevant professional experience in a Corporate L&D environment, BS degree in Education, Training, HR or related field; master's degree preferred
- Solid experience in Instructional Design, Program Management, Professional L& D Program/Project Management, Organization Development. Experience in a retail environment providing learning solutions to support professionals preferred
- Sound knowledge of organizational behavior, transformational leadership, cultural change, and performance management
- Ability to identify and improve processes, exercise mature judgment and to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment
- Superior verbal and written communication skills. High level of professionalism and strong presentation skills
