Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Group Home Caregiver to assist our high functioning developmentally delayed residents with daily living activities at our small assisted living group home. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care for our residents including preparing meals, assisting with chores, ensuring residents follow their daily schedule, and documentation. This role requires a pleasant and encouraging attitude and commitment to reliability and peaceful relationships.
Our residents are high functioning and do not require assistance with ADLs. Residents do not have a history of physical violence. Maximum number of residents will be 5.
The schedule is 24/7 for 2-4 days of the week, and the other 3-5 days of the week off. The schedule is flexible depending on applicant availability, although the schedule will be the same each week once established. A private apartment-style room is provided rent-free and staff are welcome to eat free with residents. This is an hourly position with many of the hours being paid as overtime. Shifts available:
·Fri- Sun (2 day shift)
Fri-Mon (3 day shift)
· Fri-Tue (4 day shift)
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and make meals.
- Implement resident care plans, ensuring that individuals are reminded and encouraged to meet daily goals. Encourage and assist residents in being as independent as possible.
- Foster a positive community atmosphere through engaging activities and conversations.
- Transport residents to appointments and activities using a company provided vehicle.
- Maintain a safe and clean home environment.
- Verbal de-escalation of conflict.
- Errands such as picking up prescriptions and grocery shopping.
- Most work will occur within the home, although we encourage as many out of home outings as the schedule will allow.
Experience
- Experience as a caregiving or directs support professional desired, but we are willing to train the right person.
- Current CPR/first aid certification preferred, but also ok obtain at time of hire if needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
