The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests that assist physicians in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The MLT ensures accuracy, quality control, and timely reporting of laboratory results while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, label, and prepare biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for testing
- Perform laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment
- Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and report findings accurately
- Follow quality control procedures to ensure reliable and precise results
- Maintain laboratory records, logs, and documentation in compliance with regulations
- Adherent to laboratory safety protocols, infection control, and OSHA standards
