GHSP, based in West Michigan, is a leading global supplier of mechanical and electromechanical systems to the automotive, transportation, and appliance industry. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Operations, GHSP is currently looking for a Plant Manager to join our Operations team in Hart.
What You'll Do
- Safety: Ongoing activities to focus on continuously improving the culture of safety and related KPl's.
- Quality: Understands GHSP's Problem Solving tools and activates them with operation.
- Efficiency: Experience in Lean Manufacturing and the TPS culture and tools.
- Monitor and control cost, and promote cost savings in support of goals and value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) efforts.
- Encourage employee ideas and problem-solving.
- Drive the team to implement VA/VE proposals and has a method to track savings.
- Consistently looking for value add improvements related to process and cost efficiencies.
- Lead the ongoing activities working cross functionally to ensure the successful launch and continued success of new programs.
- Oversee program milestones, key deliverables and provides directional support.
- Manage financial aspects of operations and understands the effect on financial performance.
- Develop, review, and maintain budgets and expenses for materials, equipment, travel, human capital, etc., ensuring conformity to plan.
- Review functional budgets monthly and addresses variances.
- Review plant performance weekly to look for trends.
- Provide direction and focus on product margins throughout the life of the program.
- Assess the current and future needs with operation to ensure the structure meets the current state objectives.
- Ensure that available resources align with the changing & growing needs of the business, including equipment, infrastructure, people, systems & technology.
- Lead Talent Development - Recruit and hire via personal and GHSP network to bring in top talent in the business.
- Create and monitor development plan for direct reports and holds an expectation of development of people throughout the plant.
- Ensure that the organization understands the proactive initiatives & thrusts that will lead to future results.
- Keep the Leadership team balanced between day to day tactical responsibilities and long-term strategic objectives.
- Research and recommend new products, processes, systems, policies, and procedures to pursue in the future.
- Manage plant-wide programs and coordinate with other GHSP locations to ensure best practices are implemented.
- Ensure assigned plant operations are effectively using and improving all presently implemented operations systems.
- Ensure all members of cross functional teams are held accountable and operate with a sense of urgency.

- Partner with cross-functional teams (specifically noting Sales and Engineering) to ensure needed talent, skills and competencies are in place to meet customer requirements on future business and product direction.
- Lead succession planning, talent, training needs and associated budgets for those needs proactively to align with current planned product complexities.

Requirements:- Bachelors Degree in General Engineering or equivalent.
- 10 years Operations experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Automotive industry experience and knowledge of basic electronics required.
- Knowledge of PCB and software integration preferred.
