What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Maintenance Technician position at Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat Center?
Ghost Ranch education and retreat center, located in Abiquiu, NM, is seeking a Seasonal Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Department. Our center sits on 21,000 acres of beautiful, northern New Mexico land, which inspires our mission to steward a place of great beauty and to nurture the human spirit and mind. We welcome day visitors and overnight participants from across the region, the United States, and the world. Our Facilities team is essential to maintaining this place of beauty and hospitality.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years minimum experience required in one or more of the following:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- HVAC
- Construction
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Diagnosis of Maintenance issues
- Irrigation System set up & Maintenance
- Building Repair & Maintenance such as:
-
Stairs, railings, tile, floors, roofs, gutters, fasteners, lights, ceiling fans, appliances, doors,
cabinets, windows, locks, ceilings, walls, patios, walkways, fireplaces, gas fixtures, water heaters,
controlled access systems, etc. - Heavy equipment operation is a plus.
ABILITY TO OPERATE:
- A company vehicle and haul a trailer
- Heavy equipment
- Standard power tools
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEMAND:
- (66% to 100% of the time) to be on feet.
- (75% to 100% of the time) to perform the following physical activities:
- Bend/stoop/squat/kneel/climb stairs & ladders/reach above shoulder
- Perform routine maintenance/repairs, pick up tools and needed equipment.
- Lifting/carrying/pushing & pulling equipment, appliances, heavy objects
- Grasp/grip/turn handles of tools & equipment with wrists, hand & finger dexterity
LIFTING:
- Over 150 lbs. – rare need (less than 1% of the time)
- 75-150 lbs. – occasional need (1% to 33% of the time)
- 25-75 lbs. – frequent need (33% to 66% of the time)
- 1 – 25 lbs. – constant need (66% to 100% of the time)
TERMS:
The Seasonal Maintenance Technician is an hourly, non-exempt position, beginning in May and ending in September. Wages start at $18/hour and are commensurate with experience or certifications.
