Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Superintendent role based in Indianapolis, IN. The Superintendent oversees day-to-day field operations, including coordinating subcontractors, scheduling work, and ensuring that construction activities follow project plans, specifications, and safety standards. This role manages on-site quality control, conducts regular site inspections, and proactively addresses issues related to timelines, materials, and workmanship. The Superintendent communicates frequently with project managers, owners, inspectors, and trade partners to maintain clear expectations and accurate project status updates. Additional responsibilities include maintaining daily logs, enforcing site safety protocols, assisting with inspections, and supporting project closeout activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field supervision for land development, general contracting, or interior (Division 9) construction projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.
- Demonstrated skill in scheduling, coordinating subcontractors, and managing daily on-site activities.
- Commitment to jobsite safety, including knowledge of OSHA standards and best practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with crews, clients, and inspectors.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced field environment.
- Proficiency with basic construction management tools and technology (e.g., project management software, mobile apps, email, and digital plans).
- Ability to maintain detailed daily reports, track progress, and support project documentation and closeout.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to and from project sites in the Indianapolis area.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or a degree in construction management or a related field is a plus.
