Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will support the firm’s accounting, audit, and tax functions. This role involves preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, creating journal entries, and preparing and filing sales and income tax returns for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for business clients.
- Record and post journal entries (JEs) and maintain general ledger accuracy.
- Assist with and perform audit procedures, including documentation, testing, and preparing workpapers.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns in compliance with state and local regulations.
- Assist in preparing individual and business income tax returns.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Review financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
- Communicate with clients to obtain necessary documentation and information.
- Support senior accountants and partners on client engagements and special projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in public accounting or a CPA firm preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, accounting systems, or tax software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines during busy seasons.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA license is a plus.
