Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Field Service Technician role based in Charlotte, NC. The Field Service Technician will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain access control systems, gates and doors, surveillance cameras, and related security equipment at self-storage facilities. Responsibilities include performing site assessments, diagnosing technical issues, completing preventive maintenance, and documenting work performed in service reports. The technician will interact with customers on-site, provide clear updates on service status, and coordinate with team members to ensure timely completion of work orders. The role requires regular travel to customer locations within the region, adherence to safety protocols, and consistent, dependable field service.
Qualifications
- Technical proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing low-voltage systems, security equipment, and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field environments.
- Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, ladders, and basic test equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and collaborating with internal teams.
- Reliable time management skills and the ability to work independently on multiple service calls per day.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record suitable for regular travel to customer sites.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school or relevant certifications (e.g., low-voltage, electronics, access control) are a plus.
- Previous field service or installation experience in security, access control, gates, doors, or related industries is preferred.
