This individual inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This individual will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
- Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
- Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
- Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
- Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
- Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
- Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders.
- Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
- Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
- Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
- Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport
What You Will Bring To Our Firm
- High school diploma.
- 0-4 year of construction inspection experience.
- Experience in construction, inspection, material testing, or transportation engineering for highway projects structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or municipal projects.
- A safety-first mindset.
- Strong writing, listening and communication skills.
- ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state MODOT certification are recommended, but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
- Ability and desire to lead.
