Associate Scientist
12-month contract
Onsite in Watertown, MA
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Work:
- Perform mammalian cell culture, including work with primary cells and cell line maintenance
- Isolate and culture human cells, including differentiation of primary cell types
- Support generation of modified cell lines (e.g., gene editing or overexpression techniques)
- Process tissue samples for downstream molecular and protein-based assays
- Conduct and analyze experiments using techniques such as qRT-PCR, plate-based assays, and enzyme assays
- Troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols as needed
- Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records in electronic lab notebooks
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Prepare and present data summaries and reports
- Participate in team discussions and scientific meetings
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biology or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience
- Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in an industry setting
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture required
- Experience with primary human cells and/or cell line engineering is a plus
- Familiarity with molecular and cell-based assays (e.g., qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry)
- Strong understanding of cell and molecular biology principles
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot experiments of moderate complexity
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced setting
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with hematopoietic cells
- Exposure to gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems)
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong documentation practices
