Job Title: LAB TECHNICIAN

Position Reports To:

QC Lab Supervisor

Summary Description:

Supports the operation of the lab and performs tests and analyses as requested. Maintain documentation on all tests and evaluations.

Essential Functions:

Chemical (Spectro) Analyses: furnace, ladle, casting, and incoming scrap.
Graphite Check: Nodularity of poured samples and microstructure etching.
Sand Testing: support for core making and molding processes;

Sand strength, compatibility, clay and moisture content, LOI, screen analyses.

● Routine maintenance and cleaning of test equipment and lab facilities.

Test Bars: collection, cutting, Hardness testing, and prepare for pick-up.
Defect Analyses: obtain material, sectioning, microstructural preparation, and review.
Customer Profiles: prepare for testing, send to outside testing sites, chemical analyses, Hardness testing, microstructural preparation, and review.
File and maintain production records for coremaking, molding, pouring and cleaning departments.
Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned

Skills or Experience Required:

High school diploma. Willing to follow all safety criteria. Some computer experience required. Ability to follow written instructions. Capable of learning to operate process and testing equipment.

Other Position Demands or Requirements:

Perform technical services and analysis.
