Location: Dallas, Texas, and surrounding area (required)

Reports to: Director of Sales

Position: Full-time

Salary Range: $65-80k annual salary

Bonus Structure: 20% of Base Salary


Our Story

Founded by a serial entrepreneur and whiskey industry veterans, GF Spirits is bringing the full Kentucky bourbon experience to Texas with an authentic Buzick-built rickhouse located on a working bison and cattle ranch outside of College Station, TX. Our flagship brand, UNREINED WHISKEY, introduces two world-class whiskeys made from bourbon distilled in Kentucky and Texas, carrying a 6-year age statement, and aged in the humid subtropical Texas climate. We launched in August and are looking to accelerate our growth in the DFW area.


Position Summary

GF Spirits is seeking a strong salesperson from the spirits industry with experience managing key accounts both on-premise and off-premise, as well as with chains. As the Area Sales Manager, you will drive performance by calling on accounts daily and forging meaningful relationships throughout the trade to make sure the brand is being built and turning. Your responsibilities will also include conducting tastings, education, and effective field execution and profitability management.

The individual in this position is a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial, results-driven environment. You possess the ambition to build something authentic and utilize your strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with distributors and industry members. You will be responsible for creating and executing your local sales operating plan.


Our Expectations

  • Be a crucial collaborator in the long-term brand building and sales goals of the Company.
  • Work with distributor sales teams to achieve goals and drive revenue.
  • Increase sales and revenue year over year, while efficiently controlling costs and maximizing dollars spent.
  • Allocate approximately 70% of your time in the market, with the balance being spent on field marketing and promotion.


Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Successfully launch GF Spirits products, achieving volume and distribution KPIs set out by the Director of Sales
  • Educate distributor sales personnel on the brand portfolio and brand standards
  • Expand distribution within targeted accounts in the on and off-premise by:
  • Working with distributor salespeople where possible
  • Personally calling on accounts
  • Ride with distributor sales managers and oversee the execution of local sales efforts, addressing market problems and opportunities
  • Assist with the management of the distributor, ensuring programming and pricing is implemented and volume targets are achieved
  • Identify relevant and region-specific marketing events for brand activation, product support, and sales.
  • Identify new opportunities and take a proactive approach in the placement and development of our brands 
  • Implement on-brand ideas within accounts that generate turnover
  • Assist in managing industry seeding programs
  • Assist in managing regional sampling programs
  • Make on-premise the cornerstone and foundation of our market entry and the brand-consumer interaction strategy via a first-class grassroots sales effort. Success requires a tactical execution of menu placements, mixology training, and event productions.
  • Conduct tasting and product presentations to members of the trade and consumers. Attend relevant events such as tasting events, pairing dinners, etc.
  • Operate within established budgets 
  • Ensure all sales efforts comply with state laws. Keep abreast of all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the market. Keep management aware of all information about the area of responsibility
  • Residency in sales territory required
  • Must be willing and able to work some evenings and weekends as job requires and travel outside of your territory as job requires (25%)

Required Qualifications

·       Proven ability and experience in selling, marketing, and promoting fast-moving consumer goods.

·       At least 3 years of sales/marketing experience in the spirits segment

·       Knowledge of distribution channels

·       Must possess a strong business acumen focused on leadership & entrepreneurial business skills

·       Self-motivated individual, thriving in both autonomous and team environments

·       Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication

·       Strong presentation skills

·       Financial and business acumen in the areas of data analysis, budgeting, reporting, planning, and sales knowledge

·       Able to obtain and meet industry licensing requirements as needed

·       Excellent organization skills, multi-tasking, and project management skills are required, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities

·       Must be able to travel as needed

·       Must possess a valid driver's license and secure and maintain auto-liability insurance by state laws

·       Must be 21 years of age
