Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental and applied research to improve or generate new products, components, equipment, systems, tests, requirements, and processes.
- Drive projects by maintaining focus across disciplines and functions on key design aspects, customer needs, system requirements, testing, product growth, and technological trends.
- Apply deep knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines to lead product innovation and development.
- Assemble and test prototypes, integrating mechanical and electrical components.
- Interpret and create detailed mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
- Sustain and support designs across the entire product life cycle.
- Communicate and collaborate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX preferred or SolidWorks), Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and rapid prototyping.
- Hands-on experience assembling and troubleshooting electromechanical prototypes preferably sensors.
- Hands-on experience in assembly, machining, soldering, and related fabrication techniques for electromechanical component development and testing.
- Experience in testing electromechanical sensors and systems in automation and control systems programming (e.g., PLCs).
- Experience with sensor design and integration is a strong plus.
- Experience in designing water quality monitoring equipment or components is preferred.
- Multi-disciplinary engineering expertise with a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, and flow mechanics.
- Be able and willing to work in a fast-paced, agile product development environment—wear multiple hats, be resourceful, and take initiative to get the job done with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5 years of relevant industrial experience in product development, preferably in sensor and automation industries.
- Experience with prototype development and CAD-based design required.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
