Getz Fire Equipment Company, a leader in fire protection products and services in the Midwest since 1957, is seeking a Fire Alarm and Special Hazards Design Manager to work in our Peoria office. GFE is a small business that prides itself on quality, commitment to customer satisfaction, and fierce loyalty to all employees that join our family. We have been the premier Special Hazards company of downstate Illinois and Northeast Iowa for several decades, and since the early 2000's have been a leader in Fire Alarm System design and installation. By joining the Engineered Systems Sales and Installation department of GFE, you would work alongside a small group of committed individuals with hundreds of years of cumulative industry experience.

Job Description:

This position will oversee the design and scope process for each project during its design stage while managing and overseeing a team of designers. Major responsibilities include the oversight and creation of fire alarm and special hazards construction drawings using AutoCAD, along with compiling all accompanying documentation, permit applications, record keeping and as-built drawings. You will be expected to assess each design for compliance with applicable NFPA and IBC codes, local Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements, and manufacturer's specifications. An eye for detail, strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and cooperative participation within a team will be crucial in this fast-paced and challenging position.

Qualifications:

We are seeking professional candidates with at least 5-10 years of experience in the design of fire alarms systems and/or special hazards and that possess, at a MINIMUM, NICET Level 3 certifications in those fields, with Level 3 in fire alarm being the priority. A college education in a field related to engineering, construction or design is preferred. The top candidates will be able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of low voltage electrical wiring, fire alarm system operations, and life safety code requirements, as well as clear written communication and coherent graphic representation skills. The top candidates must also demonstrate a clear ability to work in a team environment and be a good leader. All candidates must have knowledge of, or experience with, construction plan drawing and drafting, and must possess basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Benefits:

We are seeking an individual that wants to build or continue a long-term career. To promote a mutually beneficial relationship, Getz Fire Equipment acknowledges the employee as our #1 asset and will invest in your continued training and education to the level that you are willing. The compensation includes a 401K match, compulsory profit sharing, a health benefits package, and a competitive salary. Pay will be determined by experience and qualifications.
